Indian fashion Apparel – Specialty Store ; Project : Anita Dongre Flagship Store; Winner : 4.4 Design

Spread across 10,000 sq ft, the Anita Dongre Flagship store at Qutub New Delhi, emulate a style of a royal haveli in a retail space. Spanned across two levels, the space is planned like a home with rooms and connecting passages. Rajasthan architectural elements - arches, jallis, nooks & corners, alcoves define the space.
Planning is done around a strong geometry heightening the drama and perspective. Architectural elements drawn from traditional forms are distilled to a minimal without ornamentation. Ambience is of understated elegance vis-à-vis opulence. Affinities towards traditional art is depicted through black and white marble inlayed floors, hand-carved jallis, block printed fabrics, Thikri (cut mirror) work and painted frescoes on walls. 30 hand painted pichwai style paintings adorn different rooms - each with an animal theme like peacock, elephant, tiger, flamingo, Indian birds and the horse. - The rooms showcasing collections are furnished like a home to make the clientele feel at ease and comfortable during their experience. Customers are encouraged to linger, pick a book from the library or even play a game of billiards. The furniture is an eclectic mix of simple hand crafted colonial furniture mixed with traditional inlayed and white metal covered pieces.
