By Reena Mehta | September 14, 2018

Poised to start a 1 lakh sq ft store in Surat by 2020-2021, G3 believes that the store design plays a quintessential role in the overall retail experience. Along with its core products, G3 has been offering uber trendy designs to fashion conscious customers of the city. Retail Yatra unveils this success story in its Surat journey.

Jigar K Patel, MD, G3 joined his grandfather’s 30-year-old retail family business at the age of 16. Today, he has 18 years of experience in the retail world. G3, their retail store, ever since its inception, has been about a holistic family experience. They have a wide range of collection for every category -- kids, menswear, ladies wear and ethnic wear for both men & women.

Jigar believes that the store-design plays a quintessential role in the overall customer experience. Sharing his thoughts on the same he says, “Our design cost is intensive as compared to the branded stores. The reason being we choose a distinctive and a high-end designer look. Also about 30% of our collection is unique because along with core products we also offer latest fashion and designs that are in trend.”

G3 ensures the best collection through extensive travels to fashion hubs like Italy, Turkey and China. They gauge the latest trends and bring them back to India. What also acts as a major differentiator is their service quotient. “We believe in providing personalised service wherein the customer gets personal attention by our sales person; they are highly skilled and trained to understand the taste of customers and their requirements.”

G3 currently has one store which is 40,000 sq ft of retail space and their plan is to start a 1 lakh sq ft store in Surat by 2020-2021.

According to Jigar, the key challenges that a retail space like G3 encounters is ever evolving and aware customer in this internet age and the dearth of skilled human resource to scale. Further on he believes that for every retail brand to become omni-channel is a hygiene factor in today’s day and age. G3 too has a strong online presence and about 8% of its turnover that is Rs 10 crore yearly comes from their online customers. The total turnover of the group is about Rs 100 crore.
