‘We aim to be a one-stop solution provider in the literal sense!’

By N Jayalakshmi | April 20, 2023

Pranav Thakkar, Managing Director, Scoville Retail, feels brands face challenges in getting the best output from convertors, while keeping capex in mind and maintaining the budgets and this is exactly the challenge, among others, that Scoville Retail seeks to address for its clients, while focusing on R&D, sustainability and backward integration of retail solutions. Pranav shares the journey with Retail4Growth. Read on...

Could you start by talking about the vision with which Scoville Retail was started?

The vision behind Scoville Retail was to create a successful and sustainable business that produces high-quality furniture products for consumers - creating unique and innovative furniture designs that stand out in the market. Also, with a strong base of clients that we have created with Amreesh Neon Pvt.Ltd, we sensed an opportunity to extend our services to the southern market as well. I am, in fact, very bullish on the South and sense a huge retail expansion in the coming years. We  hope to serve brands with our now 50000 Sq.ft set up in Electronic City in Bangalore.

Pranav Thakkar, Managing Director, Scoville Retail

What are your key focus areas?

We are focusing on:

  • Using eco-friendly/sustainable materials and manufacturing processes to minimize the impact on the environment
  • Building a reputation for exceptional craftsmanship and quality
  • Providing employment opportunities and contributing to the local economy
  • Building long-term relationships with suppliers and customers
  • Investing in research and development to continuously improve manufacturing process and products
  • Building a strong brand that is recognized and trusted by consumers

Who are some of the clients you work with?

Scoville Retail since its inception has been working with esteemed names like Kohler, Jaquar, Honda, Plum, Samsonite and Bluestone. We have added a few more clients for this FY.

Can you take us through some of your milestones in the journey so far?

I would list them as:

  • Getting high end machinery from brands like ALTENDORF.
  • Acquiring new suppliers and vendors
  • Upgraded factory to 50000 sqft with state of art manufacturing facility
  • Approximately 25% increase in month on month sales

Can you share a bit about about your infrastructure/manufacturing capacity?

We have an infrastructure set up of around 65000 sqft and a built up area of around 45000-50000 sqft. We have all the machinery required for wooden fabrication that includes: Panel saw, Edgebanding multiboring, CC Router, Cold Press, etc. In addition to the above, we have a dedicated team of 70-100 people including fabricators, electricians, designers, etc.

In the retail solutions space, whether it's fitouts/signage or other merchandising solutions, what do you think is the most critical challenge that retail brands face today?

In my opinion, it’s Cost Vs Output. Brands generally face challenges in getting the best output from convertors, while keeping capex in mind and maintaining the budgets.

Also, one of the most critical challenges that retail brands face in the retail solutions space is the need to differentiate themselves from competitors in an increasingly crowded market. With the rise of e-commerce and the prevalence of online shopping, retailers must work harder than ever to create compelling in-store experiences that attract and retain customers.

How does Scoville address these challenges for clients?

We have created extra focus on research and offering our associated clients the output which they expect in 3D’s with the right material and labor involved. Also as a backend service, we work with our clients to create elevations, detailing and production drawings. We call this Backward Integration of Retail solutions.

What new plans in the pipeline for this FY and moving ahead, what's the long term vision?

Being fairly new to this market, we are currently taking baby steps towards our long term vision. The primary vision is to create a sustainable business cycle for us to be recognised in the market, and from thereon create a brand name for Scoville so as to extend our legacy from West to South. The long term vision is to set up a team to provide turnkey solutions to our clientele in the South. We aim to be a One-Stop Solution Provider and we mean it in the LITERAL sense!
