IKEA to open its global operations centre in Bengaluru

With this initiative, the company aims to reach 100 million consumers in the next few years. It will also open small format city centre stores to expand its digital presence at other cities in the country.

The Swedish furniture company, IKEA will open its global office in Bengaluru, to strengthen their presence in the Indian market. The office will operate within the areas of Global Business Operations (GBO), Digital and Centres of Expertise (COE).

Ingka Group, strategic partner, IKEA stated,” The availability of a large talent pool in India is one of the key reasons behind selecting the global office. The move will help to streamline, simplify and standardise ways of working and operations, while diversifying the overall digital footprint.”

“India now joins our network of strong locations situated at strategic parts of the world with the establishment of the GBO. India is not only a growing retail destination for us but also one of the strongest markets when it comes to global business operations capabilities. With this initiative, we have long-term plans to expand over time,” said Lalitha Indrakanti, Head of Global Business Operations, Ingka Group.

The Global Business Operations (GBO) will facilitate the implementation of contemporary techniques that are required to meet the rising business demands and will also increase employee satisfaction. The Centres of Expertise (COE) will offer leadership, best practices, research, support and training. Apart from that, there is a large focus to fortify the digital environment that can handle growing e-commerce demands.

With an aim to reach 100 million Indian customers in the next few years through their multichannel approach, IKEA will also open small format city centre stores to expand its digital presence at other cities in the country, according to the company.
