Spencer's launches its first hyper store in Chennai

Spencer's Retail Limited has launched its first hyper store at Velachery in Chennai. Having spread over an area of 23,000 sq. ft, the store is poised to become a destination for Velachery's residents. The store will offer longest operational hours from 7 am - 10 pm with more than 15,000 quality products in various categories at affordable prices. Speaking at the launch, Shashwat Goenka, Sector Head - RP-Sanjiv Goenka Group said "2013 has special significance for Spencer's - exactly 150 years ago Spencer's made its appearance in Chennai with an outlet at 187 Mount Road.  It is on record that John William Spencer arrived in Madras in 1862 and by January next year began the business, which in due course spread across the Indian subcontinent.”

The store will offer more than 600 variants of regional ethnic products from Kerala, Goa, Maharashtra, Karnataka, Andhra, Gujarat, North India, Punjab, Rajasthan, West Bengal and Tamil Nadu  and a wide range of organic products across 250 categories. More than 1000 variants of imported food products sourced from more than 30 countries will offer the shoppers with cuisine-wise segregation such as Asian, Continental, Italian, Japanese, Mediterranean, Mexican and American.
