Mebaz today has twenty stores across the country including Vizag, Vijayawada, Ahmedabad, Hyderabad, Bangalore and Delhi, where each store measures 6,000 square feet on an average. Mebaz is planning to extend its retail presence in more cities like Luckhnow, Chennai, and Bhopal etc.
Started in 2004 by Manoj Jhethwani, Managing Director of the Company, Mebaz was an extension of New Meena Bazaar that Manoj’s father started in 1980’s. Initially, Mebaz had a collection of famous designer wear from Manish Malhotra, Tarun Tahiliani, Rohit Bal and many more but eventually the plan was to launch there own label in Mebaz. In 2007, the change was made and Mebaz introduced a whole set of in-house designers to produce the fashion wear for them.

Mebaz is planning to extend its retail presence in more cities like Luckhnow, Chennai, and Bhopal etc. With most of their stores on high streets, they are also planning to open stores in malls for strong and quicker brand presence.
Mebaz has an ethnic wear collection for weddings and parties for men, women and kids. Talking about their key customers, 80% of the clients are fashion aficionados in the age bracket of 25-35 years.
Talking about key points that makes Mebaz a successful brand in all these years, Mr Manoj tells us that they empower their employees and strong values of business which all employees stand by since the brand has started.
Mebaz has come a long way in their store design and display, where the brand has worked with several architects and interior designers across India and they have analysed each design. Mr Manoj and his brother are completely involved in the project stage; they take full charge of the layout of the store and how each product should be displayed in the store. He says that all the architects have their own unique sense of design but Vikesh Chedda Associates has been a reliable source for designing and conceptualising their stores across India as Vikesh Chedda’s team take their own independent charge and with set rules and formats they successfully deliver the store design. For fixtures, lights, mannequins, flooring etc. the Mebaz team has their set of contractors who is are sourced by a separate contracting team
Mr. Manoj says a lot of young retail enthusiasts have joined his own team of Mebaz in recent years, and he feels retail is a fantastic line of business for young entrepreneurs to explore in India.
